Sisters of the Good Samaritan

The trip to Malinalco to visit the Sisters of the Good Samaritan was supposed to take only 2 hours. It took nearly five! I decided to attend Mass at the Basilica of the Lady of Guadalupe before heading out to Malinalco. I thought I attended Mass early enough to avoid Mexico City's famed traffic gridlock. I was wrong. It took us 2.5 hours to get out of the city - hence the 5 hour trip. The trip was long but well worth it. The sisters take care of sick people that have nowhere else to go or have no one else to care for them. They take care of everybody. They also feed hundreds of school children after they get out of school. Along with volunteer doctors from the city, they take care of thousands of people needing medical care. These sisters do everything with so much love and joy.

I was visiting the sisters that day to give a small donation in honor of one of their residents. I heard about a priest that they are taking care of. This priest has no one to take care of him so they took him in. It turns out to be a blessing not only for the priest but to all in residence, especially the sisters of the Good Samaritan. They spoke so fondly of this very loving priest. I arrived Tuesday in Malinalco and was excited to meet the priest. Sadly, he passed away 3 days before I arrived.

I hope to be back and be able to help the sisters in their work. The sisters extends their sincerest thanks to all of our generous donors.
